Classical performers from Norway and Romania
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Cellist and concert organizer Krisztina Eikeset brings with her two musician colleagues from the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and four musicians from Romania, and together they will carry out a tour with 14 concerts in various cities in both Romania and Norway, in the summer of 2023. The concert at Utstein Kloster is one of the 6 the concerts to be played in Norway and which are part of the intercultural project RoWay-NorMania. This project has been launched by the cultural actor Florescu -Fernandez & Friends Association from Romania in partnership with Eikeset med 4 Strenger from Norway. Its main purpose is to promote contemporary art and culture to a wide audience and to strengthen international cultural cooperation and the transfer of knowledge, through the production of a variety of artistic events. The exchange of experience and network building during this project will help the two cultural actors to increase their own competence also within cultural entrepreneurship, as well as to create new values in their local environment.
On the occasion of the RoWay-NorMania project, two chamber music works from two outstanding composers from Norway and Romania have also been commissioned. The Norwegian composer Stig Nordhagen and the Romanian composer Mihnea Brumariu have each composed a piece for different ensembles, pieces to be performed at all the concerts, in addition to well-known gems from the chamber music repertoire.
RoWay-NorMania is supported by the EEA funds 2014-2021, a support scheme financed by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
